Being responsible towards our society is in Spinneys’ DNA. Donation campaigns to support local NGOs such as The Children Cancer Center, SOS, The Lebanese Red Cross and more, are launched several times per year, aiming to support those NGOs’ causes and stand by the Lebanese communities. In addition, Spinneys never missed the chance to turn a Christmas or Ramadan or other occasions’ activations into an opportunity to help people in need and lead by example when it comes to creative yet meaningful and results-driven charity initiatives.

A firm believer in the importance of promoting awareness on the urging consequences of the food waste issue socially and environmentally, we at Spinneys have partnered with leading NGO to reduce food waste and hunger, we distribute since 2016, around 500 tons of fruits, vegetables, and bakery goods per year to different organizations around Lebanon that take care of underprivileged individuals.

As a Lebanese company, we feel the responsibility to give back to our society; hence we make sure to support a number of local NGOs in various possible ways. Throughout the year, we share the profits from our private label products’ sales with NGOs, and encourage our customers to take part in making a change through engaging campaigns.

Since 2011, 2 million bottles are recycled every year via Reverse Vending Machines set up at Spinneys branches. We make sure to take advantage of every opportunity to motivate our customers to preserve the environment and sort their bottles and cans.

Years ago, Spinneys was the first supermarket chain in Lebanon to launch eco-bags, and in 2019 we took things a step further by being the first to introduce reusable sackcloth produce bags for fruits and vegetables.

Environmental responsibility applies to every aspect of the shopping experience at Spinneys. Our plastic bags are made of 100% recycled materials as well as our trolleys and baskets that we import from the EU.

At Spinneys, we put all our efforts to make a difference in our local community and lead by example, by funding and organizing every year hundreds of charitable activities. From boxes donations to underprivileged across Lebanon, to charitable Iftars and Christmas activations, our local community is our first and foremost priority.

We believe that educating the youth is key to achieve a better tomorrow in every aspect of the society. Faqra’s “My School Pulse Marathon” students’ activity is sponsored by Spinneys every year, in addition to our very own Green Festival launched in 2019, educating the new generation to be environmentally responsible. Moreover, on several occasions, we supported kids granting them school scholarships.

Food safety is the first and foremost Spinneys’ priority in all our practices; from receiving the raw materials and suppliers’ goods, until delivering the end products to our customers. International high level hygiene policies are properly implemented, accompanied by trainings for our food handling staff and regular audits to guarantee compliance. The Q-Platinum Award™ is our latest food safety certification, an international award, assured by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, UK and exclusively presented by Boecker ® in Lebanon and currently applying for the ISO Certification.
